TITLE:            Athletic Trainer/CTE - Sports Medicine Teacher                         

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:     184-day contract        

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt - Certified

 

GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:

            The Teacher will be responsible for providing a positive working relationship with students, faculty, staff, and parents to establish effective rapport with students that will motivate them to develop skills. Responsibilities will include maintaining high level of confidentiality and standard professionalism while delivering a flexible program and providing a safe classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth to the students of the district.

 

ATHLETIC TRAINING/SPORTS MEDICINE DESCRIPTION:

            The CTE Sports Medicine Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing an engaging curriculum about the career pathway of Sports Medicine and related healthcare fields that is consistent with the Arizona State Technical Standards and industry best practices. Responsibilities will include teaching three levels of Sports Medicine, including Intro to Sports Medicine, Advanced Sports Medicine, and Sports Medicine Practicum, teaching hands-on skills necessary to prepare students for future health careers. Other responsibilities include advising the HOSA – Future Health Professionals career and technical student organization (CTSO) and providing hands-on clinical experience to practicum level students in the campus’ athletic training facility.

The Certified Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing athletic training coverage for high school athletic programs. The Certified Athletic Trainer will practice within the parameters of the Arizona Athletic Trainers Licensing laws as laid out by the Arizona Board of Athletic Training with guidance from the Position Statements and Code of Ethics set forth by the National Athletic Training Association.

OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:

Medium risk - Work is routinely performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time. Requires standing in inclement weather including summer heat. The employee may be required to move from room to room through corridors heavily congested with people.
