This is a substitute position for the Child Care Center (COOP) at Youngker High School. Days are sporadic and temporary.

 

 

TITLE:               Substitute Child Care Provider II

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:     Temporary/Occasional

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:  Classified

 

GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:

           

The Substitute Child Care Provider II will temporarily and occasionally assist the COOP Director/Early Childhood Education Program Teacher to provide an educational, nurturing, and safe environment for children, parents, students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities will include assisting in the operation of the center in accordance with Youngker High School, and the Buckeye Union High School District policies and procedures, and the state licensing standards.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Implement existing lesson plans & activities that promote social, emotional, physical and intellectual grouth and development of children.
  • Responsible for the care, hygiene, learning, developmental activities, specialized programs and redirection of children.
  • Communicate with the COOP Director, staff and parents.
  • Must be highly flexible and adaptable, able to engage in multiple tasks, and able to respond quickly and appropriately to changing needs of children, parents, staff, and high school interns
  • Comply and fulfill all record keeping responsibilities and maintain confidentiality regarding the child, parent, high school intern students and staff information
  • Implement and comply with governmental laws and regulations regarding the care of children
  • Assist, guide, and direct high school intern students while in the COOP, and participate in the evaluation of student interns as guided
  • Attend and participate in COOP staff meetings and trainings, center events and parent meetings/conferences if necessary
  • Understands developmentally appropriate practice in Early Childhood Education and ensures its use in the classroom, by creating lesson plans and implementing activities
  • Keep the COOP Director/Early Childhood Education Program Teacher informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children or high school interns.
  • Be able to perform the essential functions for other staff when necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school or high school equivalency diploma
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Obtain and maintain a Valid CPR, First Aid and Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Medical certification that demonstrates Tuberculosis (TB) free.
  • Must meet current state regulations, with one of the following options:
    1. Six (6) months or more of childcare experience; or
    2. A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P., or C.P.C. credential; or
    3. an associate degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development or closely related field.

 

OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:

Medium risk - Work is routinely performed in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time. Requires standing in inclement weather including summer heat.

The applicant for this position is required to:

  • Bend, stoop, sit on the floor and can move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to prevent a possible emergency. The overall health of the candidate should not prevent the continual monitoring of the environment and the wellbeing of the children.
  • Reaching with Hand and Arms on a regular basis
  • Lift on a regular basis 30-50lbs
  • Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities to ensure a safe environment for children.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

The evaluation is done by the COOP Director/Early Childhood Education Program Teacher.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Substitute Child Care Provider II reports directly to the COOP Director/Early Childhood Education Program Teacher.
